Whistler Magic
The CHBA national conference and pre-conference meetings were held in Whistler, BC on April 4-6, 2008.
John Hrynkow, owner and
CEO
of Park Royal Homes Edmonton, became President of CHBA National. In his inaugural address, Mr. Hrynkow outlined his vision for the coming year. Continuing to lead all industries in the promotion of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility was listed among the new president's top priorities. In addition to the environment, Mr. Hrynkow pointed to skilled labour, infrastructure investments, and the fight against further government-imposed costs, such as taxes and levies, as key issues facing the homebuilding industry.
At the CHBA's 65th National Conference Vince Laberge was honored with the Presidential Award of Excellence, Dave Benbow was the recipient of the Gordon S. Shipp Award for his outstanding level of commitment to CHBA and Christine Scott-Nuyli was presented with the Riley Brethour Award for her contributions at the national level in marketing and sales. The Grand Sales and Marketing Award (
SAM
), the home building industry's most coveted prize, was awarded to Homes by Avi. "Winning a National
SAM
Award is the highest recognition of excellence in our industry", said Mr. Hrynkow. The Grand
SAM
is given out in recognition of outstanding performance in both the building and marketing of new homes. Homes by Avi also took home the Marketing Award for best website.
