Recognizing Industry Leaders
Jasper, AB – During BUILD 2009, CHBA –
Alberta
’s annual conference, the Industry Leader Awards takes the opportunity to recognize association volunteers for their dedication and commitment at the provincial level and to recognize leaders in the residential construction industry for their commitment to make the industry better. The following awards were distributed.
Safety Awards
To recognize members that have demonstrated a commitment to safe employees and worksites, CHBA –
Alberta
, ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric presented the annual association Safety Awards. All of these companies hold their Certificate of Recognition (COR) in safety, have low lost time claim rates and have demonstrated safety service to the industry.
Daytona Homes Master Builder of
Edmonton
was named the winner of the Large Employer Builder Member category and merit awards were given to Morrison Homes of
Calgary
and
Spring
Creek
Mountain
Village
of Canmore.
Dyand Mechanical Systems of Edmonton was presented with the Safety Award in the Large Employer General Member category and merit awards were given to KB Heating & Air Conditioning of Lethbridge and Keystone Excavating of Calgary.
Evolution Concrete Forming of Langdon was presented with the Safety Award in the Small Employer General Member category.
Presidential Award of Honour
This special award is presented to a CHBA -
Alberta
member to recognize efforts which have served to assist the president during his/her term.

was pleased to present this award to Deep Shergill of Prominent Homes in
Calgary
and Vince Laberge of WendyLynn Custom Homes in
Edmonton
.
Hall of Fame Inductee
CHBA –
Alberta
Hall of Fame inductions are not done every year because of the significance of the honour. This year’s inductee is Jay Westman of Jayman MasterBUILT of
Calgary
.
Klaus Springer Award
This award is presented each year to a builder member who has done excellent service at the provincial level of our association. Deep Shergill of Prominent Homes in
Calgary
was this year’s recipient.
Maple Leaf Award
This major award is given to a general member who has demonstrated leadership and dedication for work at the provincial level. This year’s recipient is
Onufry Shinkewski
from Genstar Developments in
Edmonton.
Award of Honour
This award is presented to successful volunteers who have done a large amount of work at the local and provincial levels of our association. This year’s recipients are

and
Spencer Lacey
of Lacey Homes in
Medicine Hat
