Energy Efficiency in the ABC
CHBA - Alberta recently met with the Alberta Government regarding its intentions to introduce energy efficiency requirements into the Alberta Building Code as early as 2010. CHBA - Alberta has prepared meeting notes that include responses to a number of vital questions about the proposed energy efficiency changes which can be downloaded here. The Alberta Government wants industry members to complete an online survey in regards to the best way to include energy efficiency requirements for houses into the Alberta Building Code. Get Your COR or SECOR
The Alberta Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) recently reported that in 2008, 75 of the 1369 WCB accounts registered as being residential construction industry had their Certificate of Recognition (COR) or Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR). These 75 companies received a total of $465,000 in Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) refunds back to their organizations. Alberta Municipal Affairs recently issued a STANDATA that defines how the actual start and end point of the noted 10-minute response time, based upon the varying call taking, dispatching, communication and response models utilized by Alberta’s fire departments is determined. Nominations for 2010 WHS Awards
Work Safe Alberta and the Occupational Health and Safety Council are looking to recognize leaders in workplace health and safety. The Workplace Health and Safety Awards recognize outstanding Alberta organizations and individuals in the areas of innovation, leadership and performance improvement. Organizations or individuals may apply for any of these awards. Nominations deadline has been extended to November 29th.
