COR & SECOR Certifications Steps

Certification for COR or SECOR is carried out by a “Certifying Partner” designated by the Partnerships Program of Alberta Government.    For the construction industry, this is the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA).  The Certificate of Recognition program is available to all members and associate members of the ACSA from owner/operators to large corporations and is administered by the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

If your company is part of the construction industry and has an account with the Worker’s Compensation Board, you are automatically a member of ACSA.

The Certificate of Recognition (COR) process for companies with 10 or more employees, requires six days of training and can be completed in approximately a month’s time if taken in Edmonton or Calgary. For outlying regions, the above courses are offered twice annually.

The details of the COR certification process can be found here.

The Small Employer Certificate of Recognition Process, for companies with no more than 10 employees, requires courses as well as the creation of a Health and Safety Program.

The details of the SECOR certification process can be found here.
