Concerns & Conflicts
Building your first home can be a lengthy process. Your builder or sales representative works closely with you to keep you informed throughout the building progress. CHBA builder members strive to provide exceptional service and communication but there are times when concern or conflicts may arise. In order to resolve the conflict, CHBA - Alberta recommends the following steps be taken.
Steps to follow when dealing with a concern or issue
1. Contact the builder, renovator, contractor to discuss your concern2. Warranty concerns should be directed to the builder’s warranty program:
- The Alberta New Home Warranty Program or
- National Home Warranty or
- Progressive Home Warranty Program
3. Check with the nearest local Home Builders' Association to see if the company is a member in good standing
4. Provide the local Home Builders' Association with a written complaint*
*Each local Home Builders' Association will follow their own policy handling conflicts
