President's Message 2011-2012
The CHBA - Alberta President is elected yearly and his or her term runs from September to October of the following year.
As the head of the association's Board of Directors, the President speaks on behalf of the Board on a wide range of issues and meets with government representatives and stakeholders across the country.
Sandra Young, President of CHBA - Alberta
On September 16, 2011 Sandra Young, Vice President & General Manager of Homes by Avi in Edmonton took over the reigns from out-going president of Canadian Home Builders' Association - Alberta (CHBA - Alberta) Greg Christenson, President of Christenson Developments in Edmonton.
Ms. Young is the Vice President and General Manager of Homes by Avi Edmonton where she is responsible for strategic planning and product positioning within the Edmonton market. She also leads a diverse management team. With Ms. Young’s leadership Homes by Avi has grown in the Edmonton market and achieved many awards including National Builder of the Year in 2007 and Builder of the Year 2008 in the Edmonton Region.
The CHBA - Alberta is the voice of the residential construction industry in the province. “Our industry is the foundation for a strong Alberta, as it provides safe and sustainable communities required for thriving economic activity. I am looking forward to working with our regional associations and government to explore opportunities to further our initiatives and solutions to the challenges we face together,” said Young.
CHBA - Alberta has four strategic goals based on a mission to improve the housing industry continuing the philosophy of One Voice - One Industry. There are six regional Canadian Home Builders' Associations across the province: Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Central Alberta, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.
