Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing Winners Announced

Jasper, AB – The Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Alberta (CHBA – Alberta ) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2009 Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing presented by RBC Royal Bank. Christenson Developments of Edmonton has been awarded the coveted Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year award. This is Christenson Developments’ first time winning the Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year award.

Christenson Developments won two additional awards at the Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing ceremony, held as part of BUILD ‘09 CHBA – Alberta ’s conference in Jasper. It had four finalist nominations after judging which took place in July. To win the prestigious Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year, entrants were awarded points for every entry that became a finalist and a winner in various categories and a component of their score was based on a homeowner survey.

Finalists for the Builder of the Year Award were Ashton Custom Homes of Calgary and Streetside Development Corporation of Calgary . Ashton Custom Homes also won two awards this evening and Streetside Development Corporation won one award.

CHBA – Alberta Past President Bruce Galts said “Being a finalist and a winner of the Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing is an industry honour. It was a great pleasure to be included amongst this group and I extend congratulations to everyone. This year has been one with many ups and downs and it has been a delight to end this year with this celebration of accomplishments of our members. It is important to recognize this return to a normalized pace, one which our industry can sustain and flourish in.
